Our Open House

This Clitter House is always open - so welcome. Come on in, look around, and stay a while. While our House is not large, it has taken sixteen generations to build and is now almost finished. During each of these generations small additions have been added, but now construction seems to be complete. No more building materials are available from the the known Clitters now living in the England and the United States. Alas, the present supply is about depleted and a new one is unavailable.

However, some very close relations - the Cleeter family - have recently moved in and both families share the house. In the mid-1500s some Clitters in northeast Wiltshire County, England, changed the Clitter surname spelling to Cleeter, probably to agree with its pronunciation. And the family grew.

So a call for help is being raised. Perhaps there are or have been those people, presently undiscovered, who could help with additions to the existing House. Are there any Clitter relations that might now be building their own house? This continuing one-name study has not as yet found any. And could those Cleeters now inside the house contribute to the families' existing knowledge? Please contact us if you can add in any way to the House of Clitter. (upd 2/14)
